Limousin

Industry
Limousin’s major industry is agriculture, and is known for their beef, lamb, and pork. However, Limousin is known for their cattle raising. Limousin also supplies France with 25% of its gold production and 50% of uranium.

Sports
Golf is a popular sport in Limousin because it’s such a rural area. Limousin is known as the lake region of France, so fishing and water sports are popular. The water sports include of canoeing, kayaking, rafting, water polo and waterskiing on the main river of the region, the majestic Vienne. Horseback riding is also very popular in this region, and the Pompadour National Dressage Championship is held here on 17-20 July.

Cuisine
Limousin is not a very well known region of France; however it offers a diverse range of food that reflects the climate and culture. Limousin is known for it’s rustic, simple food. Because Limousin is known for their cattle, lamb, and pork, many dishes would include these ingredients. Limousin is also a great fruit growing area so strawberries, gooseberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackcurrants are used to make liqueurs, jams, tarts and pastries.

History
Between 50BC to 550AD, Limousin was inhabited by a Gallic tribe named Lemovices. The name Limousin comes from the Gallic name. In the 12th century the French and the English fought over Limousin. During the Hundred Year’s war, Limousin became a heavy battle sight. Ultimately, Henry IV annexed the area to France, and it became the French province of Plateaux du Limousin, in 1790.

Auvergne

History
Auvergne has been around since about 4 BC. It was not a booming city, but it has been slowly developed into the city that it is today. First the city of Auvergne was ruled by the Romans for a brief period of time. Soon the city of Auvergne was occupied by Christians during the crusades and became a lot more populated. Soon after Auvergne became the sight for several Christian pilgrimages.

Cuisine
The cuisine of Auvergne is not described as the best around, but many would argue that it pretty good. It is often referred to as peasant cuisine. There is a lot of cabbage and potatoes used in Auvergne cuisine, and they are also well known for there use of sausage and pork. Also many meals in Auvergne consist of Legumes, or beans, peas etc.

Culture
There are many festivals scattered around Auvergne, especially during the summer. Many of the festivals revolve around worldly culture, dance, music, and above all art. The arts festivals consist of a blend of many cultures artwork. The art work ranges from modern art to older art. There is also a lot of music festival and many go on for multiple days.

Sports
One of the main sports in Auvergne is called rugby. Rugby is similar to football, and has been played in France for several hundred years. In 1911 Association Sportive Montferrandaise Clermont Auvergne or ASM was formed. The ASM still exists today and the rugby championship was recently played in Auvergne. The European Challenge cup is often held in France and has been held in Auvergne.

Ile de France


Geography
Ile de France is made up of 8 different “departments” which are like counties. They are Essonne, Hauts-de-Seine, Paris, Seine-Saint-Denis, Seine-et-Marne, Val-de-Marne, Val-d'Oise, Yvelines. Ile de France is commonly reffered to as Region Parisienne by the French. The capital of France is Paris which takes up about 90% of Ile de France. Paris is at the center of France and there are two "rings" around it. Around Paris is the first concentric ring of three departments commonly known as the "petite couronne" and around that ring is the second ring of four departments known as the "grande couronne". The three departments of the inner ring are Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis and Val-de-Marne. The four departements of the outer ring are Val-d'Oise, Essone, Seine-de-Marne and Yvelines. Paris is made up of two islands, Ile Saint-Louis and Ile de la Cite. The region of Ile de France never reaches extreme high or low temperatures.

Tourism
Ile de France is probably the most visited part of France because of Paris. Paris is visited by millions and millions of people every year. Tourists visit the popular sites such as the Eiffel Tower, the Champs Elysees, the Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame, the Basilique du Sacre-Coeur, the Louvre and the Centre Pompidou. The Eiffel Tower was built in 1889 by Gustave Eiffel for the Universal Exposition and is now a national symbol for Paris. The Champs Elysees is a seventeenth century promenade that was turned into an avenue connected to the Arc de Triomphe. It is a major shopping street in Paris and is called the most beautiful avenue in the world. Notre Dame is located in the Ile de la Cite of Paris. It is a gothic cathedral and used by the Roman Catholics. The Louvre is France's most famous museum. It is visited by 8 million people every year, making it the most visited museum in the world.

Economy
Paris has one of the highest GDP (gross domestic product) in Europe and would rank as the 14th largest economy in the world. Paris is the center of economic activity of France. The Paris economy has been shifting towards high value-added service industries and high-tech manufacturing. It is an important manufacturing powerhouse of Europe, especially divisions such as automobiles, aeronautics, and electronics.

La region s'appelle Ile de France. La capitale de Ile de France est Paris. Beaucoup de la region est Paris avec sept autres petit cites. Il y a beaucoup des attractions dans Paris. Il y a le Tour Eiffel, Le Champs Elysses, les Catacombs, La Sacre-Coeur et plus autres. Les gens pouvent prendre un tour de la citie et les attractions. Ile de France est connu pour les faire des achates en Paris.
